Great weekend of lacrosse

Was an assistant clinician at a re-rate clinic and reffed two games on Saturday, and played in three in Sunday. Had a lot of fun, but my legs are tired and I think I pulled something.

Wtf is up with all the Peter Pan collars?

Enough already

Ugh!

My fat little monkey of a dog ate half a large pizza left on our kitchen table. She stuffed her fat face so much that she couldn't even eat the last two pieces. Moshe also took the liberty of eating it on my poang chair. She's definitely sleeping in her cage tonight. She's probably going to get diarrhea. Her stomach is huge and hard as a rock! Ugh!

She was doing so well, she needed to lose three lbs and at her last check up, she was down 1.5 lbs. There goes that loss.

Another race?

I've got the urge all of sudden to sign up for a race. I've early stopped going for runs and now that its getting cold, I know I won't get outside for any more runs. So maybe a 5 mile turkey trot or a 4 mile flying feather.

Moms

I think my mom and chao's mom could be friends. My mom just quit her job at Walmart and she asked me what she should do now that she's not working. I said to find a hobby and then she mentioned that there was a dancing club at the library. I automatically thought of chao's mom. I told her no dancing!

Maybe she should start to volunteer somewhere. At the hospital with babies or something...

My dog has a lot of nerve

So I'm sitting in bed and I've got the heating pad for my calves. I pull one leg out to scratch it and of a sudden my fat dog swoops in and plops on the heating pad where my leg was. Fucking Egg Roll!

I moved her fat ass and she barked at me. See, I'm top dog!

Day 1 of the two year plan starts today

I'm up at 430 am to go to Robert Morris fall ball. I must be crazy. Starting this weekend I have a lacrosse related event every weekend until thanksgiving!

So way to kick it off with D1 lacrosse! This is only the beginning.

Dog pictures of the day

Look who's invading my territory! In the first picture, she is slowly putting more and more weight on the hubster. She's also being rocked to sleep by pets. The second picture, we have no idea how she is even remotely comfortable, but she's still laying on the hubster.

Retail therapy

The hubster is the best! He likes to keep reminding me that after a company holiday event I told him in a drunken stupor that he was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Anyway, I've had a helluva week and was still a bit down since coming home from Boston. Still feeling overwhelmed with work and lacrosse stuff. So he surprised me with a gift card to go shopping with the condition I buy something I want and not need. God, I love that man.

So what did I get? An overpriced hoodie from lululemon! Honestly, I might never have bought anything from that store if not for him. It's super cute and I love it and the best part? It's not black!

Tomato-cide!

Last night's severe storm took it out on my poor plants.  Of course, I did not go outside, but when the hubster went to walk the dogs, he reported to me that all of my poor plants were knocked over. =(  Then this morning when I went to walk the dogs, I noticed that all of my tomatos had been knocked off the plant!  Oh no!  Some were not quite ripe yet.  They will have to sit in my kitchen before I eat them. Poor poor tomato.

Craft project!

To take my mind off my shitty week, I decided to do a craft project that I saw on pinterest

And my version:

Looks like its not level. I'll have to fix that. All it took was a can of spray paint, double sided tape, and letters from michaels. This was definitely cheaper than buy letters on line. Pretty pleased with it. I wonder if anyone will notice especially with how much door is situated an where people stand when coming in.

Worst week of my life

I had the worst week ever this past week.  There are just no words for it.  I'm beginning to really question my career.  I'm not sure I want to be working there anymore.  I saw this coming, but never thought I would get pushed over the edge.  Events like this week won't happen daily, but will happen maybe 4-5 times a year and I'm not sure I want to subject myself to that kind of punishment.  I'm not a masochist.  Let's just say the week ended with me crying on several occasions and a visit to HR.

Pizza and beer

Two beers after work before dinner to relieve a hellish start to the week was not a great idea because I scarfed own half a max pep from Gahanna pizza plus. Soooo good!

Just a little over a week before its all over.

The life cycle of a craft room

Ah, my craft room. It's a love/hate relationship. I love that I have a space to work on crafts, but I hate how it also doubles as a sporting equipment storage room. I have little to no problem with that except eventually it ends up being a storage area for everything! Today, I got fed up with its current state and cleaned it out. It had extra boxes of wood flooring, other flooring equipment, golf clubs, empty cardboard boxes, trash from craft projects and all sorts of crap. It's all cleaned up and organized now. Let's see how long it lasts.

Home improvement binge

Now that the floors are 90% done, I'm itching to undertake another project. Floating around my mind and my pinterest is a kitchen overhaul: countertops and floors.

The hubster and I went to lowes and home depot to price out some options. Originally, I wanted solid white corian countertops, but the hubster wasn't a fan. He said they were rural. What?!?! So we looked into quartz and marble. Still waiting on a contractor to call me back. We'll see if we follow through on it.

A cup of coffee and two chocolate chip cookies

With my two favorite puppies

The perfect way to end my weekend. Next week, bring it on. It's gonna be busy and not very relaxing.

Many uses of a flat iron

As an actual iron for shirts.  I remembered last minute that some big wigs were coming in to visit and I had to dress up.  Of course, my mint green button up was in my clothes basket and not hung up.  So I used my flat iron to iron the wrinkles out of the shirt.  Not the first time I've done that either.  Definitely works in a pinch.

Shopping!

Here's the dress I bought at Anthropologie today.  The hubster said it makes me look wide. =(  I really like the print and colors.  I'll let it hang in my closet and see what I think in a few days.

This is the shirt I bought at Anthopologie.  I swear it does not look as matronly as the picture makes it.  Even the hubster liked it and he thinks Anthropolgie is made for grandmas.  It looks great with black or white pants.  I just like the tropical feel that the print has.

I'd post the picture of the shirt from Express, but their stupid site won't let me copy the image url and I'm too lazy and tired tonight to make anymore effort.  Oh well, you can see it when I wear it =)

Labor Day Weekend: A Weekend of Labor

*sigh*

I feel like I've neglected my blog with fluff posts.  Well, here's a good update.

This weekend the hubster and I went down to a co-worker's farm for a hog roast.  We almost didn't make it because we spent so long getting out of the house.  Our departure time slipped like 2 hours.  We made it down to Canal Winchester and it started to rain.  We stopped in at the Kroger to pick up some ice in the cooler and some bug repellant.  By the time we got back outside, it was sprinkling a little bit and forecast said 40-50% chance of rain the entire afternoon.  I wanted to head back, but the hubster was insistent.  So we went and right after we got there, it started to rain and it didn't stop until it got dark.  Regardless, we had a good time with my co-workers and his family and friends.  The pig was pretty good as it usually is.  It was a pot luck and I brought Reese's peanut butter cookies and Snickerdoodles.  This was my first attempt at them and they turned out ok.  The consistency and texture were spot on, but there was a funny taste.  I'll have to do some trouble shooting the next time I make them.  We got home around midnight.  I stayed up for another 2 hours and finally fell asleep.

The next morning we slept in and headed over to Home Depot to buy some struts to fix our bowing garage door and buy the baseboard for the house...FINALLY.  Here's where the labor for Labor Day weekend comes in.  We picked up the materials and slowly made it back home.  12 foot piles of baseboard don't really fit well in a Tiburon.  We set about fixing the garage door right away since it has adde about an extra five minutes getting out of the house.  We installed the first strut and it didn't fix the problem.  We went back to Home Depot and got another strut.  We installed the second strut and it semi-worked.  The bowing isn't as bad, but the garage door malfunctions maybe every fifth time it comes down versus every time.  And when we try to lower it on a malfunction, it takes one try versus maybe four or five.

After the door was "fixed", we started on the baseboard.  We decided we'd do the bedroom first so that we could make mistakes in there and not out in the living room.  We moved all the furniture away from the walls and got to cutting.  We had kept the old baseboard and used those as templates for cuts.  Turned out to be a very smart idea.  We got the first one cut and tried to install it.  We ran into trouble with the nail set.  It kept slipping off the nail head and would then put a nice hole into the baseboard.  Not what we wanted!  The nail set eventually mushroomed and we decided to return the nails and nail set.  However, it did provide use the chance to see  if the wood filler I bought worked.  It did!  So back to Home Depot for our third trip of the day.

We got some new nails with dimpled nail heads and a new nail set.  Back home we go.  These nails worked out much better.  The hubster had to leave for his boy's night out while I toiled away at home.  I managed to finish the bedroom and hallway - boards, caulk, and filled.  Not bad for 6 hours of work.  I ended the night at 8 and watched TV for the rest of the night.  Once the hubster came home, we moved everything back in place.  It was a pain in the ass since our bed is huge and HEAVY.  To make matters worse, the rug underneath the bed was off kilter and had wrinkles in it.  *sigh*  We finally got everything into place and went to bed.

I was rudely woken up this morning with pleas to walk the dog.  The hubster had to work today =(  Since I was up, I figured I'd get a head start on the baseboard again while the hubster was at work.  I managed to finish the living room by 11 - furniture moved, baseboard installed, caulked, nail heads filled and furniture back in place - and decided to go shopping and meet the hubster at lunch.  I realized at this time that I was incredibly sore from all the work I had done the night before.  Who knew a byproduct of installing baseboard is an incredibly sore butt and legs.

I bought him a new pair of swim trunks from Nordstrom, a dress and shirt from Anthropologie (yay extra 25% off clearance), a shirt for me and tshirt for the hubster from Express.  We were supposed to go to Cosi for lunch, but it was packed.  Line was out of the door.  We ended up at Burger King instead.  After we departed after lunch, I cut all the remaining baseboard to size for the office, the pieces connecting to the stairs and the closets.

I then took a two hour nap waiting for the hubster to get off work.  Once he got home, we got to work. We moved the office furniture around, installed the baseboard, broke for dinner, and finished off the caulking and filling in the nail heads.  Since we were both working, I managed to finish the hall closet while he worked in the office.  The office closet was the last thing to tackle.

So 5 months after starting the flooring project, the baseboards are finally installed.  We're not done yet!  We are two thirds of the way done.  Next, I need to order the thresholds and install those.  Maybe that'll take another 5 months.  I dearly hope not.  I think I'll order them this week.  Compared to the first two steps of this process, installing those cannot be that hard.  There's only 20 linear feet compared to 201 linear feet of baseboard and 1400 square feet.
