Heat and Humidity

Holy crap, it is hot outside.  I felt like I was swimming walking from one building to another.  I was definitely perspiring enough to make it feel like I was swimming.  It's going to be like this all week.... swell.

Summer Time!

This past Memorial Day weekend, we had beautiful weather.  It was sunny and HOT!  Maybe a little too hot and humid, but better than cold and snowy.  It got hot and humid enough for us to break down and turn on the air conditioning.  I think it's funny that every year we forget what we should set our thermostat to every summer.  This year was no different except that we have our programmable thermostat which was obvious that we bought it in a colder month because the temperature settings for cool were kind of whack.  We had it set to 74 during the day when we are at home (which is not that bad, but still kind of warm) and 78 for when we are not at home.  Since the hubster is now a student and was a full time worker when we bought it, it doesn't make sense anymore.  He's home during the normal business hours and as much as I'd like him to sweat like a pig at home, we had to change it.

78 is too warm for me.  I woke up this morning and was sweating.  I was like what the heck is going on.  The thermostat was at 74, and I finally gave in and agreed with the hubster about it being a smidge too warm.  After I walked the dogs and watered my herbs (which I think I am over-watering), I changed the schedule so that the house is at a constant 72 throughout the day.  I think the hubster will think it's still too warm, he'll just have to deal with it.

The forecast looks like it will be 93 today and a day time low of 82.  I don't think the AC will be coming off any time soon unless the humidity comes down.

Rain day or Hurricane-like wind day or Tornado day?

We've all heard of snow days.  I remember as a kid waking up and listening to KYW News Radio 1060 hoping to hear my school code for the day off.  You'd have to listen hard to hear your numbers as the newcaster spewed them out like an auctioneer.  Nowadays in Columbus, they actually say the name of the school and with interwebs, you can just look at the school's website.

Anyway, yesterday, I had a rare weather related day off from work.  Tuesday night we had a pretty big storm come through our area just like most of the Midwest is experiencing.  It didn't seem so bad where I lived, but I guess Heath got hit harder than I thought.  Because on my way to work yesterday morning, I received a call from my engineering manager that the facility we worked in had no power and that the servers were down and that I didn't have to come in to work.  SWEET!  I'm just glad that I was only 10 minutes into my commute as opposed to 30 minutes.  I got off the freeway and headed home where I promptly got into bed and alternated from sleeping and watching TV until 11 am which is when I got hungry.

I poked the hubster awake where we preceded to spend an hour trying to figure out where we wanted to eat.  I know, we're so efficient and deciding where to eat is a big deal.  We settled on El Vaquero and surprisingly, we both got something we actually liked.  We've been trying different entrĂ©es at this place for the last 2-3 visits.  We got home from lunch and I continued to watch TV and take a nap.  I know, what a productive day!  I did end up doing a lacrosse game last night and feasted on some chicken taquitos from Costco for dinner.  A very Mexican day for me.

I also found out that we get Good Friday off from work, so what started out as a busy week for me turned out to be pretty relaxing.

April Showers...

This weather is getting a little old and is getting very depressing.  I really shouldn't be feeling like this because I should just be glad it's not freezing and/or snowing.  I'm just tired of all of this rain.  It seems like it rained or was predicted to rain a lot last week and I think it did.  This week was looking a bit more promising with a break from the rain until Wednesday, but as the weekend progressed, the rain was moving up in the week.  Last I checked, it was supposed to be 70 and no rain on Tuesday, now it's rain/thunder/lightning THROUGH Wednesday and probably later into the week.  Of course, with the rain, the temperature is going to go down too.  It's almost the end of April.  Why can't it be warm again?!?!

I guess the bright side is maybe some of my games will be cancelled.  I'm definitely still in the "I hate lacrosse" mood.  I've got a big game Tuesday so we'll see if it happens or not.

WTF?!?!?

Is the exclamation I let out Sunday morning.  I hate Ohio weather.  I was out reffing all day Saturday.  It was raining all day and the temperature was 51 degrees.  Sunday morning, I get out of bed to walk the dogs and look out the window and there is snow on the ground!  It just doesn't seem right to go from rainy and 50 to snowy and 30 in one night.

Brrrrr

I wish it would get warmer here.  I had my first game of the season last night at Tiffin University, and it was ridiculously cold at the game.  I could barely feel my fingers and it took the whole car ride home to defrost.  I shouldn't complain too much since I got paid $$ for one game.  I guess getting my district rating was worth it.

It was cold and windy this morning and I just wanted to crawl back into bed, but couldn't because of the car pool!

Ice Ice Baby

I got up this morning to walk the dogs and my front yard is completely iced over.  It's  good thing the girls just charge right on out or I might have slipped on my walkway.  It didn't even look icy.  It was fun to see them slipping and sliding all over the yard trying to do their business.  Poor Egg Roll had the hardest time.  I guess there was just freezing rain last night, not the snow, sleet, freezing rain as forecasted.  Now time to get dressed and head to work.  It's going to be a great commute this morning.
