Resolution Rehash

Since 2011 is winding down, let's take a look at 2011's resolutions and where I stand on them.

  1. Be a better wife - you'll have to ask the hubster, but I think I can check this off the list.
  2. Get back to and maintain pre-holiday weight - I can't say what the pre-holiday weight is, but I'm going to say "check!" since I haven't gained any weight this year.
  3. Run a half marathon - half a check, I only ran about half before I got injured.  This is going on next year's list.
  4. Regularly post on my blog - CHECK!  I can hardly believe that I've had this blog for a year and I still write in it!  Amaze-balls!
  5. Save money - I'll get back to you on that...
I'll be back tomorrow to post 2012's resolutions.  Maybe a bit more specific and bit a more ambitious.  No one really wants a list full of successes right?  That just means you didn't aim high enough.  I think the hubster would call that ridiculous and that no one but me operates with that mentality.  Always striving for more!

See everyone next year!

Grrrrrrr....

I'm so mad right now.  Every year since we got married, we've made photo calendars from mypublisher.  We've always been super pleased with them and pay a premium for the larger calendars.  Well, not this year.  I placed my order last week and I guess I didn't read the fine print.  They changed the calendar size from 13" x 20" (opened) to 11" x 17" (opened).  I'm seriously displeased.  If I knew this was the case, I would have ordered with snapfish despite some of their design shortcomings as I wrote about earlier.  The days on the new smaller calendars are so tiny.  I have to squint from like one foot away to see them clearly.

At first when I ordered them that I must have made a mistake when creating them and didn't select the larger size.  I went back into the program to double check and lo and behold, they only had the one size.  There was no notice or anything letting people know the change, and I would think that at this time of year when people are making calendars for next year that it would be something you want to let people know.

I know I won't be using them next year.  The hubster called them and we were able to return them for a refund, but it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.  I don't think I'll be using them to make photo books either.

Dog picture of the day

Look at the fatty. She barely fits on the pillow, but she wouldn't dream of sleeping elsewhere.

King size bed, a love-hate relationship

I love my king sized bed.  It's the perfect size for the hubster and the two dee-oh-doubles (that's doggies for those not in the know aka anyone besides me and hubster).  Yes, the four of us barely fit on the bed.  I spread out, Red spreads out, and the poor hubster and Egg Roll have to find room for themselves somewhere around us.  Case in point:

For such a small to medium sized dog, she takes up a lot of space in prime real estate no less.  The hate part comes when trying to find sheets for the bed, more importantly inexpensive sheets.  Lately, my sheets have lost their elasticity and the corners are starting to come loose and come undone.  Ask the hubster, I hate an unmade bed.  The sheet and duvet must be made before I get into bed.  He likes to kick the sheet and push them aside under the duvet.  So I've been looking for inexpensive sheets and I'm just unwilling to pay $70+ for sheets, but I don't want cheap low thread count either.  Ugh!  Am I searching for the impossible?  I really don't think so.  My other sheets I purchased at Marshall's/Home Goods, but those places have turned up nothing for me.  I don't even think those are high thread count and they are soft enough for me.  The search continues...  along with other home decor stuff.  I'm totally in nesting mode right now.

Recognizable states

My brother and his girlfriend got us scarves and these mugs for Christmas.

I love mugs and these are great, but it reminds me of a discussion I had while I was in Vail. All the Ohio girls were adamant that the shape of the state of Ohio is highly recognizable. Me being from California said that I would not recognize it. They kept saying that it's heart shaped which to their credit it is, but it's not something you notice when you glance at a map.

Even though I now live in this state and have been a residence of it for 5 years, I still don't immediately recognize it.  Does that make me a bad Ohioan?

So if someone other than my brother and his gf has sent this, I think I would have a hard time recognizing the state.  The green heart does help, but I don't think I would have identified this as Oregon on the first try.  In my mind recognizable states are California (I may be biased like the Ohio girls), Florida, Texas, New York, and .Oklahoma.  I wanted to put more East Coast states in there, but I definitely think that is because I grew up in PA and with all that history in the state, the 13 colonies stuff was pretty much crammed down our throats.

Anyway, I forgot the point of this post.  Ohio is not a recognizable state shape...
