So yesterday I packed a lunch for work. Caesar salad and broccoli cheese soup. Well I left the dressing at home and ended up going to Tendergreens for lunch.
So the hubster texts me at 714, "I think you left your dressing at home". I'm upset because I was really looking forward to my lunch, but get over it quickly. I'll just eat my lunch for dinner.
It didn't occur to me until much later to ask if he put the dressing back in the fridge. Nope!
He says he didn't think about it until he was already on his way to work and that he thought it had gone bad already. *sigh*

Macaroons
During my weekend trip to Seattle, we stopped at Le Panier bakery in Pike Place Market. Since I was on vacation, I indulged in a raspberry croissant, a palmier, and of course, macaroons.

I spent $30!!!! $24 of those $30 were on the macaroons. I've eaten 3 of them and I have to say while delicious, I will not be spending $2 apiece again. Not even when on vacation when the spending budget is a bit more relaxed.
I did split the dozen macaroons with my traveling partner.

Stitch Fix
I heard about a styling service on NPR a few months ago and then my friend tried out a monthly athletic clothes subscription and it got me thinking about the styling service again.
It's called Stitch Fix and they basically shop for you. You sign up and then fill out a quick questionnaire that helps the stylist get a sense of your style. There are regular questions and then they have a collage of pictures that have a theme and you rate how much you like it. You can also add links to your Pinterest boards as more supporting evidence. They pick out 4-5 items to you every month if you pick the recurring service all for a $20 styling fee.
Once you receive your fix, you get three business days to try on and decide what to keep. The styling fee is applied as a credit to your purchase if you end up keeping anything. Otherwise you lose it. If you keep all the items, you get a 25% discount on all items.
I think that covers everything. So on to my fix!
I came home to a cute little box and was so excited.

The box has everything nearly packages up. In addition, to my items, there was a brief not from my stylist and a nifty card that had outfit ideas for each item they chose for me. This is great if you have difficulty working in new items with your current wardrobe. The best part of getting the items at home for three days allows you to try on different outfits with clothes you already own.
So the first item was a bib necklace. It looked cute in the box, but I wasn't going to pay $40 for it. It went back. You can see it on me with one of my outfit picks below.

The other items I received were a black faux leather jacket, black pants, a red plaid tank, and a lavender halter top.
The black faux leather jacket was too big and boxy on me. I like my clothes a bit more fitted. I already own a black faux leather jacket (actually two though I only wear one), so I don't need a third. The fit alone would have made me return it either way.

The black pants were ok except I had just bought a cheaper pair at Nordstrom rack the week before. They fit really well and I liked the length. They were pretty pricy at $99 for elastic waistband pants with no pockets. It's going back.

The red plaid tank was cute and it fit well. I really liked the pattern and the pockets. I did not like that it that it didn't have a collar. I felt like I could only wear it with a cardigan and I hate having to restrict my clothes like that especially if I have to pay full price.
The last top, the lavender one, was so terrible that it doesn't even warrant a photo. Everything was just wrong. It made me look broad in the shoulders. It tented and made me look pregnant. No, no, NO!
So everything went back. Womp womp. It's ok though. It was fun to try even though I lost my $20. I would try it again. Maybe to find a dress for my brother's wedding.

Listen to your body
That's the lesson I learned today. I woke up and went on a run like I usually do on the weekends. A mile in and I was hurting. I was slow and legs were tired. I wondered if it could have been my yoga class I took yesterday that made me so tired. I pushed through and at the second mile, I had to stop and walk. And that's when it hit me
Stomach cramps!! I thought I was going to die or poop my pants right there. You're welcome for that image. I was still 3/4 of a mile away from home, so I did what any wife would do: I called the hubster to pick me and Red up.
So I'm attributing my slow pace and tired legs to my body telling me something isn't right. Once I stopped running, my lungs didn't feel like they were collapsing and legs didn't feel like jelly.
What else are you saying and I'm not hearing?!?

Egg Roll Smiles
I was folding the laundry today and I look up and see Egg Roll smiling at me. It was super cute and I reached for my camera to take a picture. Of course, once I moved, she stopped smiling. And then she threw up.
I like to think that her smiling face was not a nausea face, but I think we all know I am kidding myself.

Things You Only Appreciate As An Adult
There are a few things in life that you only learn to appreciate or understand when you are an adult... like the benefits and need for shoe polish. I went through the majority of my life not understanding why shoe polish stations existed, much less survived. Obviously, I can see what it does, but never saw the need for it in my own life until today.
The weather is cooling down in San Diego, and I wore my Frye cowboy boots for the first time in months. I didn't notice until halfway through the work day that they were looking a little worn. I've had these for years and have even resoled them once. They were looked dry and brittle. I wonder if that was from months of not wearing them or lack of care. I wore these books constantly when I lived in Ohio. I think I even sported them in the summer months too.
So I wanted to wear them today, but wanted to make them look better. I remembered that I had a mini thing of shoe polish from my first class amenity kit from my trip to Europe last year. I pulled that sucker out and went to town. It was a one time use deal which was a sponge applicator soaked with shoe polish. I applied and buffed it in and the results were pretty impressive. Consider me a believer when it comes to shoe polish.
Add that to the list of luxuries I've come to appreciate as an adult... right after dry cleaning.
