There are a few things in life that you only learn to appreciate or understand when you are an adult... like the benefits and need for shoe polish. I went through the majority of my life not understanding why shoe polish stations existed, much less survived. Obviously, I can see what it does, but never saw the need for it in my own life until today.
The weather is cooling down in San Diego, and I wore my Frye cowboy boots for the first time in months. I didn't notice until halfway through the work day that they were looking a little worn. I've had these for years and have even resoled them once. They were looked dry and brittle. I wonder if that was from months of not wearing them or lack of care. I wore these books constantly when I lived in Ohio. I think I even sported them in the summer months too.
So I wanted to wear them today, but wanted to make them look better. I remembered that I had a mini thing of shoe polish from my first class amenity kit from my trip to Europe last year. I pulled that sucker out and went to town. It was a one time use deal which was a sponge applicator soaked with shoe polish. I applied and buffed it in and the results were pretty impressive. Consider me a believer when it comes to shoe polish.
Add that to the list of luxuries I've come to appreciate as an adult... right after dry cleaning.
