Mumford and Sons

So I took the hubster to go see Mumford and Sons.  It was definitely not the experience I expected, but it was still an overall good time.  It started off two days ago when I thought the concert was at a totally different venue.  Yeah, for someone as detail oriented as myself, I have no idea how this happened.  I'm the kind of person that looks up addresses a week in advance to find out what the parking situation is, how long it'll get there, what's the best route, etc.  Well, the hubster brought to my attention that the concert would be outdoors.  WHAT?  The forecast had not been friendly that last time I checked.  I also checked whether it was like an amphitheater with seating or just an open space.  My co-worker and yelp confirmed that it was a grassy knoll.  So I was prepared with that information and decided to bring a blanket.

I also found out that they wouldn't be coming on until 9:15 and I had no idea who the opening acts were.  This was good because the hubster doesn't get off work until 6 and the concert started at 6.  We were able to eat dinner at home and relax before heading out.  The venue was right next to the minor league baseball team's stadium and there was a game going on that same night.  So it was busy downtown.  We found parking and started to walk towards the entrance.  What we saw kinda baffled me.  This is strange. There's no grass, just... parking lot... *boggle*

So guess what?  They decided to move the concert outside of the pavilion which was really nice and cute looking, very intimate to the parking lot....  AGAIN, totally not what I expected.  The kicker was that since it was in the parking lot, you could essentially stand in the small service road in between the parking lot and baseball stadium and watch the concert for free!  There were even benches!  I guess if you were really a fan, you would want to be in the midst of things and right in front with all the sweaty, smelly fans.   If you hadn't guessed already, that was not me.  The hubster and I found one of the few grassy areas way in the back, laid down the blanket and plopped down.  Sure, we couldn't see the stage, but we could see the large  screens they put in the parking lot.  I wouldn't have been able to see much anyway since I'm not that tall and I didn't want to touch other people and risk having beer spilled on me and my nice dress.

So we enjoyed the show from the back away from the crowds.  Here's me enjoying a beverage:

Here's one of the view we had:

And ironically, here's the closest I got to the stage...which was actually outside the fenced in venue in that little service road I mentioned earlier:

Ok, the actual show.  It was great.  The hubster and I had a really good time.  They sounded just as good as their recorded music.  We got to hear some new songs that come out next month.  I'm not that into music so I wasn't enjoying it was much as the "real" fans.  Was it worth the $100 tickets and the $25 we spent on beer, parking, and food?  Yes.  It's about the same amount we would spend on a date night (fancy dinner, drinks, blah blah blah).  We also decided that we would go to a Clippers game before the season ended since I'd been asking for over a year.  Since we actually walked by and saw part of a game, I think that motivated me to go.
