Florida Room Remodel Has Begun

After my lacrosse games on Sunday, I swung by Ikea since the field was like 3 miles from Ikea.  I swiftly maneuvered my way around the maze that is Ikea and bought my bookshelf, desk, and rug.  I opted not to buy the chair because I was not in love with how it wheeled around.  Instead I bought this from Walmart:

I put the table together while dinner was cooking in the oven, and the hubster put together the bookcase after dinner.  I think he was being nice to me because we started doing it together, but he took over so I could finish watching Death Race (don't ask, it's not a good movie, but I started it on Saturday afternoon and wanted to finish it - besides, Jason Statham can't make a bad movie according to my brother).  This is what the room looks like as of last night (dog included!  I can't believe she actually sat and stayed for this picture even though she doesn't look too happy to be staying.  She's getting to be so smart - she's a late bloomer.)

The room seems a lot smaller now that there's furniture in there.  It doesn't help that there is a bunch of junk that needs to be moved.  This room serves double duty as my craft room and the storage area for all of our sporting goods  You can sort of see the wire rack in the right corner.

So the plan for that brown thing on top of the book case is to sand it down and paint it white.  It's a little bit longer than the book case, but not noticeable longer.  It used to be part of the headboard of the hubster's old waterbed.

I have a black filing cabinet that I bought from work that I need to paint, add casters to, and add a bar to hang some jars from (also from Ikea).  I better get on with the painting while the weather is still somewhat warmish.  I just need to decide on the color of the file cabinet.

I like how it's turning out and I hope to be getting a lot of use out of them room.  I even picked up a space heater from the office auction to warm up the room in the winter.
