So we've had the Tagg, pet tracker for about 2 weeks. At first, we were pretty disappointed in the tracker, but it probably was because we weren't using it correctly. How could we not use it correctly? You turn it on and attach it to your dog, right? Wrong! First off, we should have read the instructions a bit more carefully. Our first complaint was that the Tagg's battery drained pretty quickly. It only lasted a week when it was advertised for one month. What the hell was going on? I mean if we had to charge it every week, the chances of Red running away without it on or fully charged were much higher. Turns out you need to have the docking station on all the time. This allows the Tagg to charge and to use less battery. The farther away it is from the docking station the more battery it uses.
Second, we were not aware that when the Tagg leaves the home zone, it does not automatically alert is. Understandable since it would drain the battery a lot faster. The few times that we tested it, we hadn't kept the Tagg out of the home zone for long enough. So tonight when we went out for dinner we tested it yet again. It worked and definitely in a timely fashion. We're so relieved that it does work and it definitely earned some more points in the "keep" category. Just in time for the yearly trek to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving!
