So Star Wars: Old Republic came out today. Of course, the hubster wanted us to play. He bought his copy a few weeks ago and got us codes to get access to the servers early.
So we've been dabbling in it for the past few days. It's not a bad game, but I have my hesitations. Mostly because I don't want to be caught up in it like I was with WoW. WoW became a second job at one point. Scheduled to play for crazy hours on a set schedule for a stupid game. I totally regret the last few months of playing WoW. It got too much and took over my life. I had quit cold turkey for more than two years.
When the hubster first proposed playing this new game, I was adamantly against it. There was no way I'd be going back to sitting in front of my computer nightly, eating poorly, and just being sedentary. No way, Jose! The hubster was crushed and promised it wouldn't be like that. That I could play however long I wanted and wouldn't be guilted into playing longer. (Yeah right!). I caved of course and here we are.
It's definitely a slippery slope. The few nights we've played the time just flies by. Just like WoW. I'm beginning to keep careful watch on the clock to make sure play time isn't excessive and to also make sure that I don't play multiple days in a row. I let the hubster know that real life will always take precedence over a game unlike during our WoW days where we schedule stuff around a raid schedule. Never again!
Don't let Maupin know!
