Fraud

I was accused of being fraudulent today.   I decided to return my helmet because Brock bought me a new one for the same price that had a feature that mine didn't.  So I went to Dick's to return the helmet.  I forgot that I used a gift card to pay for part of my purchase and was expecting a credit back to my credit card.  The cashier told me that I would get a gift card for the amount.  I asked why I can't get credit since the total was $75 and the helmet was $50.  Couldn't I get $25 on credit and $25 back on the gift card?  He was reluctant to try and then just put it all back on my card.  I didn't even ask for that.  I was fine with half and half.  After I had signed the receipt, he went on to say they can't legally do that and that it was considered fraudulent.  I was like ok, then why did you do it?  Hmmm... I never argued that I wouldn't accept the gift card.  If that's how it is, then fine.  I've spent a lot of money at Dick's lately, so I'm sure I would have spent it eventually there, gift card or not.  I just found it particular that he took the time to tell me I'm fraudulent.
