Craft Project

I decided to repaint my yard sale mirror on the car ride home from the museum.  I wonder if it was before or after I fell asleep on the 20 minute ride home.  If you recall, this is the mirror we bought at the yard sale for $5!

The night before I gone to Lowe's to grab some paint chips for some paint chip wall art for the wall art that will be hung next to the mirror.  I also took a peek at their selection of spray paint and found it severely lacking compared to Meijer.  So I hopped on over to Meijer and after 15 minutes of waffling between satin and gloss, I picked up Rustoleum Gray in a Satin finish:

I decided to tap over the mirror instead of removing the frame because I'm lazy and couldn't figure it out.  After actually taping it, I don't know if the way I choose was actually lazy because it took forever!  I forgot to document the whole process and didn't remember to take pictures until after the second coat, but here's the mirror in between coats.

I'm not sure how I like it at this stage.  Right now, it's drying in the stairwell away from the dogs.  Here's what it looks like after I took the tape off:
You see that faint gray ring in the mirror?  Yep, apparently, I did not tape the magazines down as well as I thought and some of the spray paint got underneath the cracks. =(  I was not happy.  A little googling and I found a solution -  a straight razor!  15 minutes later and and voila!
I'm not sure how I feel about the color.  I almost think gloss was the way to go.  I don't think I'll be able to tell  until it's hanging up with the other pieces.  It was pretty easy, but I don't have that happy feeling I get when I finish a craft project.  I'm just not in love with it or impressed with it or even if I like it.
