I went to spin class yesterday. There was a substitute instructor and he was a very happy guy. Very motivating throughout the ride and afterwards, he went around shaking hands, giving high fives, and fist bumping every single person in the class. It was a very challenging ride. Anyway, on the 3 mile round trip to and from the gym, I almost got rear ended TWICE.
The first time was right after I turned on to the main road. I had realized I had forgotten my water bottle while waiting at the light. I decided to turn back into the complex about 30 yards down the road. The guy behind me at the light had to brake hard enough to make his tires squeal and veer/swerve to the right. Really? I mean how much speed can you pick up in 30 yards.
The second time was on the way home. This huge truck had been riding my ass all the way home from the gym. So I knew that I would have to use my blinker when turning into my complex. I usually don't. Well, even the blinker didn't help. I turned on my blinker well in advance of the turn and even tapped my brakes to signal that I was slowing down. As I was making the turn, I looked into my rear view mirror to see this asshole, swerving to avoid me and also making his tires squeal from braking.
I was bracing myself for impact. It's not like I wanted to get hit. It would be a huge pain in the ass to get my car fixed AGAIN. Maybe I need to drive more defensively or something.
