I think it's safe to say that sites like Groupon and Living Social have become quite popular. When I first signed up, I was always wanted to buy the spa treatment type groupons because I love getting my nails done, but can't really justify the expense even with a deep discount. I confess I did give in once, but that's because I always get groomed and pampered before I see my family. Anyway, I try very hard to think through each groupon like purchase. Do I really need that 50% off massage or will I need a $20 gift certificate to a restaurant I've never tried?
I've been pretty successful at using all my Groupon and Living Social Deals. Deals I've capitalized on thus far: eBay gift card, Nordstrom rack gift card, and Fujiyama gift card. So all and all not that many until today.
I bought a Living Social deal for 6 pole dancing classes. I thought it would be fun. It seems to be very trendy and I have no upper body strength! Anyway, it expires in May and with lacrosse season in full swing, it was a chore to set up a class. The website was never updated. They only checked their email once a day which is the only way to register. I finally got into a class and ended up changing it to do a lacrosse game. I just received an email that the new class was cancelled leaving me with no available classes to go to before it expires. There goes my money. I should have known not to buy it since it's a small studio in Columbus, but it was late and the hubster was urging me on. I'll write that off as a lesson learned.
