That's New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys for all you younguns who don't read my blog. I just caught their performance on Dancing with the Stars. No I don't watch it. It was on that channel when I turned on my TV. Anyway, my pre-teen and teenage self loved those boy bands respectively. Who could forget Jordan Knight? I even remember his favorite color is baby blue. I had his poster on my wall and bought all sorts of NKOTB crap. I loved the Backstreet Boys too. I bought the CD singles and played them on repeat a bazillion times. I remember going to National Tournament in Columbus when I was a junior in high school and we'd blast "I want it that way" in the terminal (note: also on repeat). Ahhh, a lost youth. You would think putting two popular boy bands together would be a winning/money making combination.
You'd be dead wrong. The song wasn't that bad, but they sounded terrible. And let me tell you, time has not been kind to either group. There are just too many people on that stage and with like 9 of them doing choreographed dancing, it was a joke. The younger version of myself just died a little tonight. Oh well, those days are just not meant to be revisited. Perhaps in another 20 years when those awesome hits are considered golden oldies...
